Anna + Bruce: A Timeless Spring Wedding
Surrounded by the stillness of winter, the freezing temperatures and bare trees remind us of the promises of spring. In just a few months, the once barren landscape will awaken, trees and shrubs will burst into a vibrant green hues, flowers will unfurl their petals, and we’ll welcome Oakland Farm’s beautiful spring wedding season. Anna + Bruce’s March wedding was one of our favorite spring weddings in 2023. As we share the details and photos of their spring wedding, you’ll see exactly why this timeless spring wedding was unforgettable.
High school sweethearts, Anna + Bruce, were engaged in November 2021 at the Moses Cone Manor off the Blue Ridge Parkway. After the romantic sunset proposal and a weekend celebrating at their favorite places in Blowing Rock, the wedding planning began! From choosing the color palette and selecting exceptional wedding vendors to finding the perfect dress and refining every intimate detail, their meticulous preparations culminated in a dream come true on April 29, 2023.
Getting Ready at the Wedding Venue
Wedding morning started off with breakfast catered by Gigi’s Creations for the beautiful bride and her favorite ladies at our farmhouse cottage, which doubles as our on-site bridal suite. The Blushed Beauty team set up their hair and makeup tools at our beauty bar and open living room area to start the magic of preparing the bride and bridesmaids for the wedding ceremony. Once Anna’s satin gown was buttoned and the bridesmaids sage green chiffon dresses were zipped, Heather Gunter Photography captured their sweet friendships in photos. Anna and Bruce shared an intimate first look before it was time to exchange vows.
The Outdoor Wedding Ceremony
The Pavilion, draped in white chiffon, was their ceremony location, where they would exchange vows against the backdrop of nature's beauty and a floral-lined aisle. Smiles were shared, promises made, happy tears shed, as Anna and Bruce professed their love for one another in front of their favorite guests.
The Elegant Barn Wedding Reception
Cocktail hour welcomed guests to the venue’s patios where guests enjoyed signature cocktails, cornhole and beautiful spring temperatures. Signature cocktails were named Bruce’s Old Fashioned and Anna’s Bouquet, adding a personalized touch to the celebration. Stepping into the Barn, guests experienced a haven of timeless elegance. The reception decor was a masterpiece of white and green flowers, complementing the natural hues of the venue, creating a visually stunning scene that radiated sophistication.
What's a celebration without music? The live band was center stage, filling the air with melodies that set the tone for an unforgettable evening. From the first dance to the last note, the music at Oakland Farm became the soundtrack of the couple's love story, creating moments that resonate with everyone around. Mr. & Mrs. Wuf from North Carolina State University even made a special appearance on the dance floor inside the barn venue! Before their grand exit, Anna’s favorite part of the day was their private last dance. The venue was cleared of guests so the bride and groom could share an intimate moment in the empty barn venue. Anna said, “It was so amazing to soak everything in one last time before leaving for the honeymoon. It was so romantic and honestly the perfect way to end the best night of our lives.”
