Bre + Harrison: A Rustic Chic Fall Wedding

Remember the sweet couple that was featured on our Instagram stories as they buried the bourbon at Oakland a few months ago? Well, these two tied the knot during an intimate, rustic chic wedding ceremony on October 26, 2019, and we’re still swooning over it!

The Proposal: When Bre and Harrison came out to the Farm in September, I thought they were just another soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. hoping for great weather by burying a bottle of bourbon. As I learned more about their story, incorporating bourbon into their wedding was more than just a fun tradition. The groom, Harrison, is quite the bourbon connoisseur! He knows every brand, how and where it’s made, the subtle tastes lingering in every bottle, and the best way to serve each variation of the tasty libation. As Harrison was busy digging a hole for the bottle of Buffalo Trace, Bre told me about the night her man asked her for forever. The couple traveled to Kentucky for a Valentine’s weekend getaway. They trekked throughout the Bourbon Trail and eventually landed on the Big Four Bridge that crosses the Ohio River, linking Kentucky and Indiana. As they walked the bridge, which was illuminated with pink and red lights for the holiday, he proposed with a gorgeous green tourmaline and diamond ring!

The Party: Guess what!? The burying the bourbon tradition worked! On a perfect, fall, Saturday afternoon, Bre walked down the aisle in a gorgeous lace dress with flowing sleeves from Maggi Bridal. Her vintage style was complimented by Harrison’s burgundy plaid jacket and navy pants. His favorite part of the day was watching his bride walk out of the barn and up to the altar. The altar, which they built together, and bouquet were filled with white hydrangeas, white and pink roses, pops of mustard yellow and dusty blues. The arched guest seating in the Pavilion gave everyone a perfect view of the couple as they read the sweet vows they wrote each other. These special moments were Bre’s favorites as she heard the words Harrison so thoughtfully crafted just for her and their forever together. When she was officially Mrs. Gladden, she tossed on her custom denim jacket and was ready to celebrate!

Inside the Barn, guests found tables set with vintage crystal glasses, white china with yellow napkins, and personalized wooden names at each place setting. Dark stained candlesticks and twinkling bourbon bottles brought a warm, cozy feel for guests as they enjoyed dinner catered by Q Shack. Harrison shared his love for bourbon with guests by incorporating a bourbon bar stocked with a variety of brands, his and hers cocktails and special pours of the Buffalo Trace bottle they buried for their wedding day! After a little bourbon tasting, guests treated their sweet tooth with a slice of wedding cake and surprise visit from Fresh, a local ice cream truck!

Advice to Future Brides & Grooms: Reflecting on their wedding day, Harrison and Bre’s advice to soon-to-be married couples is to savor every single moment. The planning leading up to your big day might be tedious and sometimes headache inducing, but when it all comes together it is unforgettable. The ceremony and reception will seem to fly by so quickly. As your bride walks down the aisle, commit those priceless steps to your memory, and as your better half says his vows, look into is eyes and relish in each second. You’ll be Mr. and Mrs. forever, but those first few moments can be fleeting.
