The Perfect Outdoor Photo Spots at Oakland Farm
They say “a picture is worth a thousand words,” but pictures also span the test of time as you reminisce on special memories. Great photos from their wedding day are always on the top of our couples’ lists, and there’s no shortage of incredible North Carolina scenery to make that happen! From watching photographers work their magic on our grounds, we’ve rounded up a list of some of our favorite spots at Oakland Farm’s wedding venue.
The Entryway: The drive into the Farm is always a stunning welcome for guests, but the low hanging trees and mossy ground make for beautiful photos with your wedding party. In the spring, the trees bloom fresh green leaves, making for lush pictures of the tall canopy of trees during summer. Of course, fall brings crunching leaves as groundcover, and the entrance even makes a beautiful wooded backdrop during our North Carolina winters.
Farmhouse Trees: Just steps from the front porch of the Farmhouse are two large maple trees that frame many bridesmaids and groomsmen on wedding day. We love seeing the ladies posing here in their pajamas while their hair and makeup is fresh. If you’re watching from the Barn on weddings day,s you might see bottles of champagne popped, detail shots of flowers, dresses and maybe even a first look under these iconic trees!
Pergola: Envision wisteria dangling overhead you as you kiss the person you’re going to spend forever with. If that sounds dreamy, have your photographer take a few photos under the pergola behind the Farmhouse. This time every year, you’ll begin to see fuchsia and white blooms as the wisteria wrapping the pergola comes to life. During the summer, the small pond under the pergola is surrounded by lush, green vine. Even in the fall and winter, this is another great place for dress shots or portraits with the reception Barn in the background.
Driveway at Sunset: One of the signature spots on the Farm is grabbing Golden Hour shots on our driveway. As the sun sets, the expanse of the pastures glow behind our couples. During cocktail hour, you’ll even find guests wandering this area to take a few photos themselves. Your photographer will know the perfect poses to ensure your sunset photos will be gallery wall perfection!
Camelback Bridge: If you have time to make a quick escape while taking pictures, this iconic bridge is only one mile from the entrance to the Farm! Before arriving at the Farm for engagement photos, one of our June couples spent some time hanging on the bridge and the photos definitely didn’t disappoint. Imagine snapping a few here in your wedding dress!
Oakland Farm also has a golf cart onsite to ensure you can zip to most of these scenic places while you’re here.
